I was member of the URPP Language and Space from 2019 to 2021. In my postdoctoral research project I am designing and compiling a morphosyntactic atlas of varieties spoken in Gascony.

Short Bio

I received a PhD in Indo-European linguistics from the University of Macerata (Italy) with a dissertation on Vedic. Since 2003 I have been working at the University of Zurich. From 2010 to 2011, I spent longer periods of time in Great Britain (Surrey Morphology Group and Oxford University) and France (University of Paris-Sorbonne and École Pratique des Hautes Études). In 2013 and 2014 I was a substitute for the W3 professorship in Romance Linguistics (Italian and French) at the University of Constance for three semesters. My habilitation thesis, which was accepted at the University of Zurich in 2017, is a grammar of varieties in the Macerata area.

My research focuses on language structure, language variation and language change at all structural levels. My main focus is on the synchronic and diachronic analysis of Italo-, Gallo- and Rhetoromance varieties, with a special interest in diatopic variation and language contact. Morphology and Indo-European linguistics also play an important role in my research. The focus of my work is always on empirical data obtained through fieldwork or texts.
